Yes, unlike some other laser treatments, Primelase HR is suitable for all skin types. It is suitable for both men and women and can be used on all areas of the face and body. It is ideal for removing facial hair caused by conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Lasers can only treat hairs that are in the growing stage, in other words those that are visible on the surface of the skin. This is about 30% of all hairs at any one time, whilst the other hairs are dormant. You can achieve maximum results in around six sessions, at eight-week intervals, to eliminate hairs at each of the growing stages. The number of sessions needed will depend on your individual needs, including the size of the area to be treated and the colour and thickness of the hair. 

Primelase HR has integrated cooling technology. As the laser energy is delivered into the skin, the surface is maintained at a cool and comfortable 5C. During treatment you may feel a prickly sensation, but this is well tolerated. There is also a pain-free Dynamic mode option that can treat tanned skin.

This depends very much on the size of the area to be treated, but the large treatment spot of the Primelase HR makes it one of the fastest laser treatments available. For example, an upper lip can take less than one minute, full legs as little as 10 minutes.

Primelase HR can remove hair permanently. The treated hairs will not grow back. However please be aware that any hormonal changes you experience in future may result in new growth, and you may then need further treatment.

This treatment has very minimal risks. Reactions can include redness of the treated area, and tiny bumps around the treated area (perifollicular edema) which can last for between a few hours and a few days before healing.

Prior to treatment, we also ask that you please avoid anything that will discolour the skin or the hair to be treated – this includes sunbathing and using sun-beds, applying self-tanning lotions or bleaching the hair.
