Dealing with unwanted hair can be a time consuming, expensive and painful process! A survey reported Harpers Bazaar1 found that the average women will spend £23,000 to wax away unwanted hair over the course of her lifetime! That’s why we are delighted to offer the Primelase HR laser hair removal system here at The Clinic, helping our clients to put a permanent stop to hair growth. This is a really effective treatment that is suitable for all skin and hair types and can be used on all areas of the face and body. Read on to find out answers to some of the most common questions we are asked.
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser safely heats the follicle at the hair root, where the hair grows from. This causes the hair to fall out permanently. The technical details: Primelase HR combines SSL (Solid State Laser) and diode LASER in one treatment. It has four wavelengths – which means it is fast, safe and powerful.
Who can use Primelase HR?
It is suitable for both men and women and for all skin types – unlike some other similar treatments.
What areas of the body are suitable for Primelase HR laser hair removal?
It can be used on all areas of the face and body. Wherever you have unwanted hair, talk to a member of our team to find out how Primelase HR can help. For example, it is great for removing excess facial hair caused by conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
How many treatments are needed?
You need to visit for several treatments if you want to remove all hair. This is because lasers work on hairs that are in the growing stage – in other words those that are visible on the surface of the skin. At any one time this is about 30% of all hairs. The other hairs are in a dormant growing phase. To achieve maximum results you will need to have around six treatments, at eight-week intervals. However, this will depend on your individual needs, including the size of the area to be treated and the colour and thickness of the hair.
Is the treatment painful?
You may feel a prickly sensation, but this is well tolerated. Primelase HR laser hair removal has integrated cooling technology which helps to reduce any discomfort. As the laser energy is delivered into the skin, the surface is kept at a cool and comfortable 5C. There is also a pain-free Dynamic mode option that can treat tanned skin. Our experts will be able to advise you.
How long does a treatment session take?
This varies depending on the size of the area to be treated. The large treatment spot of the Primelase HR makes it one of the fastest laser treatments available, though. For example, full legs can be treated in as little as 10 minutes, an upper lip can take less than one minute.
Are there any side effects?
There are very minimal risks with the Primelase HR laser hair removal treatment. Reactions can include redness of the treated area, and tiny bumps around the treated area which can last for between a few hours and a few days before healing.
How long will the effects last?
Primelase HR removes hair permanently. The treated hairs will not grow back. However please be aware that any hormonal changes you experience in future may result in new growth, and you may then need further treatment.
