Last Wednesday, Dr. Mayoni hosted an evening at Annabel’s in Mayfair to talk all things pelvic floor and women’s sexual health, and to help to shine a light on this sometimes taboo subject. Here at The Clinic we believe it’s vital that women feel able and empowered to talk about this subject more. Many are suffering in silence with symptoms that can be treated, often because they just don’t know what’s available or who to ask for help. The effects of birth, the menopause and hormonal imbalances can seriously impact on wellbeing and sexual function. Getting the ear of opinion leaders and influencers is a really important step in raising the profile of this subject and opening up information and help to more women. Which can only be a good thing!

The evening was a wonderful success. In addition to Dr. Mayoni three fabulous and inspiring speakers took part on the night: Dr. Michael Krychman (the only man in the room!), Associate Professor at the University of California and chief medical consultant for Viveve; Sarah Wolujewicz, pelvic floor physio at The Havelock Clinic and Michelle Zelli, human potentialist, speaker, writer and coach.

The energy and buzz in the room was palpable, and Mayoni has received many lovely messages and photos and stories from the night. We’ll be sharing more info from the talks as soon as possible, so watch this space! And a big thank you once again to Viveve and Epilium for their support and sponsorship and to everyone who helped make the event such fun. The goody-bags were amazing too! It really feels like a change is in the air: hopefully women are starting to feel that they can take control of their sexual health without the need for embarrassment or the fear that they won’t be taken seriously. Three cheers to that.
